  • QuestionI have a g e deep fill top loader washer and it just started dripping water in the tub what could it be

    Asked by Washer.

    • Answer Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the dripping water. If the washer fills or drips water in to the tub even when it is not turned on, the water valve on the back of your washer may need to be replaced. Also, with Top Load washers, it is not uncommon to have a small amount of water at the bottom of the wash basket after a load is complete. The amount of water is typically a 1/2 cup of water or less, and is considered normal. This will occur when water becomes trapped in the fill nozzle (fill tube) at the top of the wash basket after the water shuts off after filling. Often the nozzle doesn't immediately drain all of the remaining water, so after some time (even a few hours later), the water tension holding in the water breaks and the last amount of water is released or sprayed from the fill nozzle. It is similar to the small spurt or burst of water that sometimes comes out of a bathroom shower head after the water is turned off. If there is more than a 1/2 cup of water in the bottom of the tub, service may be required. • QuestionIs this one of the GE washers that has an automatic bleach dispenser (that dilutes the bleach as it is added to the cycle)? If not, do you know about how to safely add bleach to a cycle (without damaging the machine in any way)?

    Asked by nancy.

    • Answer Hi Nancy - We have great news. The washer is equipped with a Bleach Dispenser. The bleach is diluted properly before being added to the wash load during the fill cycle, so it's safe as well as easy. Liquid chlorine bleach should be added through the bleach dispenser in the front left corner. Follow bleach manufacturer’s recommendations for the correct amount of liquid chlorine bleach based on load size. • QuestionI have a GTW460 GE washer. I purchased it less than a year ago. Can I not resume a cycle after stopping it mid cycle? When I have a load on spin and stop to readjust the load, then restart, it goes back to the beginning wash cycle!

    Asked by Stumped.

    • Answer Hi Stumped - We are happy to provide assistance with your GE washer. Press "Pause" to pause the spin cycle to adjust the load. Pressing Pause will unlock the lid (if locked at that time), pause the cycle and the Pause indicator light will blink. To continue the cycle, press Start again. Note: Machine will automatically cancel and drain when water is present and the lid is left open for 15 minutes or the unit is left in a paused state for 24 hours with the lid closed. • Questionwhat am i doing wrong my washer just put out a little water and stop

    Asked by joyce.

    • Answer Hi Joyce - Thanks for choosing GE! We are happy to provide assistance. Any time the washer is being started or restarts after the washer lid has been opened and closed, the washer will turn on the cold water valve for two short periods followed by a 10 second pause before continuing. If the lid is opened during this period, the washer will pause. You will have to push the Start button again to restart the cycle. See page 4 of the Owner's Manual at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90576-3.pdf - Also, the washer will not start the cycle or fill with when Precise Fill is selected if the lid is opened. When the lid is closed the machine is able to begin filling with water in order to sense the load size. See page 14 of the Owner's Manual- Automatic Load Sensing. We hope this is helpful. • QuestionMy GE HETurbo doesn’t get enough water in to wet clothes how can that get any thing clean and why doesn’t it rinse softner out completely either. What am I doing wrong or is this normal?

    Asked by Larryj.

    • Answer Hi Larryj - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your GE washer. You can customize your water-fill levels with just the touch of a button. Add a little extra or fill the tub to wash the way you want using the Deep Fill option. Add a little more water: Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add 3 gallons of water to the wash load. Once the washer has stopped filling, you can press it again to add 3 more gallons. Full Tub Fill: Press and hold Deep Fill button for 3 seconds to fill the washer to the maximum water level. It will fill to approximately 26 gallons. The lid must be down when using the Deep Fill option. The dual action agitator provides powerful reversing wash action to rotates/drives clothes/items down into the water for a thorough clean. Also, when using fabric softener choose the Deep Rinse option to ensure clothes are rinsed free of detergent, fabric softener and stubborn soils Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/fbkVOdkZJ5E?rel=0 - New GE Appliances washer models meet or exceed the latest energy and water efficiency requirements. • QuestionLove this machine. Is it normal for a noise when machine is in the agitation cycle It is kind of alike a "grrr" sound?

    Asked by joe4.

    • Answer Yes, it is normal to make that sound. If your load is a super size load or you select an extra rinse and spin cycle then the sound will be much more pronounced!

      Answered by Billy

  • Questionthe machine has super load option. Can this machine wash queen size comforters?

    Asked by Rox.

    • Answer Generally speaking, 4 cubic feet is enough to wash 12-16 pounds of laundry. A larger capacity unit at 4.5 cubic feet can hold up to 20 pounds of laundry. A general rule of thumb is a queen size comforter can fit into 3.5 cubic feet and a king size comforter fit into a 3.8 cubic feet machine.

  • Questionwhy is my washer not filling with water? bought it off crags list it is in new condition.

    Asked by hawaiigirl.

    • Answer It is a HE washer, by default it will not "fill" with water, it will only put enough water in to do the load and save resources. It has a "deep fill" button that if you press it will fill the washer all the way with water, like older models used to. My instruction manual detailed how to do this, if you didn't get one from the seller you could look on GE website and try to download one maybe.

  • QuestionI recently purchased the GTW460 washer, and I am confused by the temperature dial. What does “Colors” mean on the temperature dial? I am familiar with tap cold, cold, cool, warm, and hot, but “colors” is a new one to me.

    Asked by Mothergoose.

    • Answer Hi Mothergoose- Some models have a "Colors" temperature selection rather than "Warm." The "Colors" temperature is approximately 75°. Using a cooler temperature will help reduce fading, wrinkling, and wear. Keep in touch! Sue
