- Answer Didn't want to pay the extra 68.00 dollars for delivery or the 15.00 dollars for removing old washer so I did it myself !!

QuestionIs there any type of lint catcher? The HE washer I have now has nothing and I hate the thing. Old washer caught lint around the fill cup for softener in agitator.

- Answer Hi JAmoss- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing our Top Load Washers! We have made use of several washer lint filtering systems over the years. In newer models, the fine mesh filters were removed from under the agitator when it was found that a newly designed pump and large holes in the hub under the agitator did a better job of removing lint and preventing clogs in the drain system. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. Most lint consists of cotton fibers, which are biodegradable over a short period of time and cause no concerns with the drain. Also, there is no maintenance required on this system. - Answer Hi Jodi- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Yes, the washer will fill with the lid open when using a manual load size selection. It will also fill with the lid open when using PreciseFill, but only once load-sensing is complete and the lid unlocks. For optimum results, we recommend adding the detergent before adding clothes and then loosely add items around the agitator. Thanks for checking with us!

QuestionHow long should an average rinse portion of the cycle take? This washer is very new to us and the other day I washed a load of sheets. Was keeping my eye on it and it seemed like the rinse part lasted only 30 seconds. How can it be so short?

- Answer use the full rinse option especially if you want all the softener to dispense

QuestionAfter this washer “senses and fills” how long does it just sit there before actually beginning to wash? It’s been 4 hours and I’ve only completely finished (washed, dried, folded, and put away) 1 load of laundry! I do not have the “soak” turned on.

- Answer I don't use the sense and fill for that reason. Just select a sized load.

QuestionOn the option knob what is the regular wash and rinse. Does the off mean just wash no rinse. Does the 2nd rinse mean, wash and rinse???

QuestionI bought this washing machine this week. I use liquid detergent which is blue. Won't it stain the clothes? Can I add the detergent after the tub is full?

- Answer This washer can only be used with high efficiency low sudsing detergent as it uses less water. Tide and All are both included. Not sure if it will stains clothes, but if it's not HE detergent you cannot use it. I add detergent after tub is full bc I don't know how much I will need until I see the load, not sure if this is ok.

- Answer Hello Mom2. This is Lida with GE Appliances. The Load Size knob at the far left is the "fill" option. You can select Small, Medium, Large, and Super for manual fill or move the knob over to Precise Fill to let the washer determine the proper fill level. I hope this helps!

QuestionI just purchased this washer but i noticed that if i use it on Normal it doesnt continue after the SOAK cycle . It could be that i filled too much with clothes and how long does it take for soak cycle to end and continue to the next one

- Answer Hello - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. The Auto Soak feature will work with the Normal Cycle. After the Auto Soak period, the water will immediately fill with a little more water and move into the agitation portion of the cycle. If it is not moving to the next cycle, make certain the lid is down. Otherwise, we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps! For models equipped with the Deep Fill option, pressing the button any time before the end of the wash phase will add more water. - Answer Hi Bean - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the lid on your washer. Pausing the machine will allow you to open the lid. During the spin cycle, pausing the washer does unlock the lid, but you must wait until the basket has completely coasted down to a stop before the lid unlocks, for safety reasons. Depending upon the speed at which the washer was spinning, when it is paused (and depending on the size of the load being washed), it could take as much as 3 minutes to coast to a stop and then unlock. If the lid will not unlock, make sure the washer is paused (press Start/Pause). Unplug the washer for a minute to reset. If this doesn't help, service may be required. QuestionWhat is the longest wash cycle on this machine. Trying to figure out which setting to use when cleaning it. It does not have a "Clean Machine" cycle.

QuestionCan I add water PRIOR in the beginning of the fill cycle, why should the consumer have to estimate the wait time, go back to the machine and use the fill button? What happens to the original cycle time? Rod

- Answer Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us. We do not recommend manually adding water to the wash cycle. GE Appliances washer models meet or exceed the latest energy and water efficiency requirements. Therefore, you may notice that your washer fills with less water than your prior model did. This is normal. GE Appliances washers are designed for and are thoroughly tested using modern water levels and will provide exceptional cleaning. Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add 3 gallons of water to the wash load. Once the washer has stopped filling, you can press it again to add 3 more gallons. Or, press and hold Deep Fill button for 3 seconds to fill the washer to the maximum water level (approximately 26 gallons). QuestionI need to soak/ wash whites and jeans (soiled in red clay) in very hot water using a tankless adjustable temp water heater. Does the washer limit the temp if it’s more than 110 degrees? That’s the last thing I want to know before purchasing. Thanks

Without understanding the many variables that impact the operation of a tankless water heater, some of which vary with time (incoming water temperature), there is no way to confirm a washer will operate properly when connected to a tankless water heater. The many variables include heater size, distance from point of use, water line size, water line type, incoming water temperature, inclusion of house pluming recirculation system, and many others. Most modern washing machines call intermittently for hot water. These washers turn on and off the hot and cold valves to modulate flow such that desired temperatures are reached, so you will have just as good a chance of the GTW460 model working with your tankless water heater as any other brand / model of washer. QuestionI have low water pressure and use hose from utility sink to add water. Accidentally filled way too high once. Ran load anyway. Spin has been slower (GTW460) and clothes damper. Did I weaken my clutch, have a pressure chamber port flash problem or other?

- Answer Hi tutt- The washer will accommodate most king size comforters. While not all comforters are the same thickness, any size comforter will wash properly as long as it fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly.
