QuestionWe purchased this washer and the delivery guy said to use one tide pod for every load no matter the size. Our darks get white stains all over them. What type of detergent are we supposed to be using?

- Answer Hi Lairry- Thanks for choosing GE. We are happy to help. We recommend HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. Place detergent pods in the bottom of the wash basket before adding clothes. Add liquid detergent in the dispenser. Be sure to choose Deep Rinse. When selected, the deep rinse cycle ensures clothes are rinsed of soap residue and fabric softener. QuestionHas anyone experienced "smelly washer" with this washer?

- Answer Hi Mule- Washer odors are usually caused by leaving the washer lid closed when not in use. This does not allow air to circulate and dry out the moisture remaining in the tub area. The air and moisture mixture becomes stagnant and creates an odor. When the washer is not in use, leaving the lid up/open for air circulation will help prevent odor. Also, odors may come from the drain hose if it is pushed too far into the drain stand pipe. It can siphon drained water back into the washer causing a musty odor. We recommend clipping the hose to the side of the stand pipe so this does not occur. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

QuestionI have had it with washers that give you the amount of water it thinks you need. I want a washer that fills with water. I like what I am reading about this unit, but I want water. Will this machine do that for me. If not, do you have one that does?

- Answer Hi Sadie- We are excited to hear of your interest in our GE® GTW680BSJWS! Yes, you can customize your water-fill levels with just the touch of a button. Add a little extra or fill the tub to wash the way you want with Deep Fill option. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/CpfTCH8O-Ac?rel=0 - (GTW680BSJWS has an Infusor and not agitator as shown). Select the Deep Fill feature for loads where extra water is needed. Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add an incremental amount of water to the wash load. Holding the Deep Fill button for 3 seconds will provide the deepest fill level possible. The Deep Fill button can also be pressed after the washer has completed filling and is in the wash phase if additional water is desired. - Answer Hi Beth- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! The washer is labeled HE. Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Note: The HE label does not mean energy efficient. Only washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR rating are independently certified to save energy. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not. However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance.
