• A:Answer Hi, Thanks for asking! We appreciate your interest in this model and we'd be happy to answer your question. If there is a power failure the oven will be inoperable and we do not recommend trying to use it. The surface burners can be lit manually if there is no electricity. You can find this information on page 7 in the User manual. Q: QuestionWhat is the minimum space requirement above this stove to an over-the-stove microwave with extractor fan? The manual says it is 30" to the bottom of CABINETS but our microwave instructions state that the minimum space below it to a stovetop is only 13.5".

• A:Answer There would need to be 30” of clearance between the burners and the bottom of an unprotected wood or metal cabinet. If you’re installing a compatible microwave over the range, we recommend following the instructions for that model and ensuring those space requirements are being met. You can view the installation instructions for both the range and microwave by looking up the model numbers on our GE Appliances website, going to the product pages and viewing the ‘Owner Support’ sections; please ensure your installation meets all requirements in both sets of instructions.

Q: QuestionCould you tell me the estimated time that this oven would preheat? My grandmother is saying that hers is taking almost 25 minutes from the moment she turns the oven on to when the beep says the oven is at the appropriate temperature? Is this normal?

Q: QuestionIn my new JGBS60DEKWW a 10 inch or so metal rod protrudes straight out from the upper left oven wall. What is that? My old XL44 had something similar but was was flat against the oven wall. When is the gas on/off switch located within the oven?

The part number that is connected to that part for your particular model is: WB20K10015. As for the gas valve, which control the on/off flow of gas, it is normally located in the rear of the range. Q: QuestionIs it true that the flames on the burners cannot be adjusted? Our complaint is that none of the burners will adjust low enough to really simmer unless turned almost to the off position; then we have to be careful the flame does not go out completely.

• A:Answer First , i have adjusted them pretty low with good results. This model is unique in that it has a large , 2 medium and a small burner for simmer. I have had no issues with simmering. Especially with the small burner.
