Hi Sherry29- Thanks for choosing GE Model GFW650SSNWW! During the cycle, the basket spins and creates air flow that pulls fresh air into the washer through the vent in the door while the tub quietly spins in 15-minute increments on and off until the gasket and washer tub are dry (up to 8 hours) for best performance. The UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock™ feature may be cancelled at any time by pressing the Power pad, turning the cycle knob, or pressing ULTRAFRESH VENT pad. Please try again later.There's been sometime where I turned it off earlier and it was dry enough but they said it cost $0.06c to run and also they have a flap but you need to activate the fresh vent then turn it off so the flap at the vent could open then close the door. So the humidity could at least escape but leaving it on is better and it's not hurting anyone
