QuestionHow long will it take for the UltraFresh Vent feature to run? Is it necessary to use this feature after every wash in order to keep the drum dry? Will it use lot of energy for this feature to run if it takes hours to operate and does it make noise?

- Answer Hi ladyYik - Thanks for your interest! During the operation of UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock feature, the door will remain locked and the washer will intermittently spin at low speeds for up to 8 hours. The UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock feature may be cancelled at any time by pressing the Power pad, turning the cycle knob, or pressing ULTRAFRESH VENT pad. The Ultra Fresh Vent will consume approximately 490 Watts/hr of energy and cost approximately $0.06 per use when using the Department of Energy s standard cost. We recommend running the Ultra Fresh Vent cycle at the conclusion of whatever wash cycles have been run for the day, whether that is a single cycle or a full laundry day with 7 or 8 cycles in a row. There would not be a need to run the Ultra Fresh Vent cycle on days where no laundry was cleaned. - Answer i just bought one and figured it out... this one is a bit more expensive as it has the smart auto dispense soap option. The answer above is wrong as they both have the ultrafresh deal!

QuestionWhere am I supposed to add the prewash on the GE 4.8 12 cycle smart dispense? It has a prewash option on the panel, yet I don’t see where a prewash liquid can be added?

- Answer Hi Txmom - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! We are happy to help and apologize for any confusion on adding prewash. On this model, there is only a single manual compartment for dispensing detergent when not using Smart Dispense. PreWash on this model needs Smart Dispense enabled because of this and it will use detergent from detergent tank for both PreWash and the main wash sub-cycles. A non-detergent additive could also be used if desired during the PreWash by placing it in the detergent single dispense compartment. It will then be flushed during the PreWash fill at a similar time that the detergent is being put in from the Smart Dispense system. There will be a drain and short spin at the conclusion of PreWash before the main wash sub-cycle begins. Fresh detergent from the Smart Dispense system will be put into the machine as part of the main wash fill. We hope this is helpful. QuestionHi , does this set fits in a space that is 34 inch in depth or does it need more clearance ( the depth in specs say 32)?

- Answer Hi there, thanks for your question! This unit actually has what is called True32 Closet Depth. This means, that it will fit into a 32" deep space even with all of the water and electrical hook up that is needed. If you have a 34" deep space, this unit will fit so long as the other requirements for installation are met. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael

QuestionI’ve had this washer for about 4 months. I use the SmartDispense for liquid detergent and it has been working great but now the “Tank Low” light has come on and won’t turn off despite me refilling the SmartDispense detergent reservoir. How do I fix this?

We first suggest you unplug the unit for 2-3 minutes to reset the controls. If the problem persists, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. QuestionIf you use the auto-detergent dispenser, can it be bypassed to use Woolite on a delicate load?

- Answer If you're referring to the Smart-Dispense dispenser, the machine will only pull the detergent from there if you have Smart Dispense selected on the indicators on the right-hand side. Otherwise, you can de-select it and the washer will pull the detergent from the regular dispenser. Even if there is detergent in the Smart-Dispense dispenser, it'll pull from the regular one unless you select Smart-Dispense, so you can put whatever other detergent in the regular one for your delicate load if you like. I hope this helps.

QuestionHad this washer for about a month and love it. But 2x now the word Cancelled scrolls across the screen and sounds like it is draining and for ~ 5 minutes. This happens randomly, most recently 2 days after my last load. Is this normal?

- Answer This happened on day two for me. Turns out my drain hose was too far down the drain tube. Once I pulled it out a bit no more issues.

The 12 cycles found on this unit are as follows: Active Wear Bulky/Bedding, Cold Wash, Delicates, Normal, Power Clean, Quick Wash, Rinse + Spin, Sanitize + Allergen, Self Clean, Towels, Whites. The GFW550SPNDG model does not have an Active Wear cycle or Power Clean cycle. The GFW550 model also has a Sanitize with Oxi cycle instead of a Sanitize + Allergen cycle. We hope that this helps! - Answer Hi Photoman - Model #: GFW650SPNSN has a detergent dispenser drawer that dispenses liquid or powder detergents, bleach and fabric softener. Laundry detergent packets (pods) should only be added directly to the wash basket following the manufacturer’s directions. Also, SmartDispense™ Technology saves time and makes laundry effortless. - Answer Hi - This is a great question! You can use the SmartDispense feature to store your favorite or most often used detergent. If you find occasion where you want to use a different type of detergent, press the SmartDispense pad on the control panel (the light will go out) and you can now add your detergent to the manual dispensers. QuestionConsidering a new washer. Specs are available for the washer and dryer. But, no specs for compatible pedestal. I have a height restriction due to built-in cabinets. Question: How high is the washer and dryer on the pedestals?

QuestionWhat is the actual distance from the outer edges of the feet (Front feet to back feet & left feet to right feet)? I do see the actually machine dimensions but I know the feet are set inward from that.

QuestionI'm a laundry fanatic and take great care in washing clothes/getting stains out. I recently purchased Speed Queens and couldn't be more unhappy. Do these GE washers have great cleaning power? Also, can a king size comforter fit in this 4.8 cu ft washer?

- Answer Hello Nikki, Thanks for reaching out. We're happy to help a laundry fanatic! This model washer has been given the stamp of approval by the Good Housekeeping Institute. This washer has a variety of cleaning options including steam cleaning and sanitize + allergen cycle. Typically, most comforters will fit. As long as the comforter fits below the balance ring and isn't stuffed in the tub tightly. The comforter's thickness and density should be taken into account. We hope this helps. Best wishes! QuestionI had this installed by Best Buy but when I was looking at the manual it said the brackets on the back of the washing machine were supposed to be removed. Should I remove the brackets or leave them on?

- Answer They did not charge me delivery and install fees because I spent some money that delivery fee was free also purchased total tech(?) that best buy offered so I only paid for washer, dryer, and taxes.
