Does the coils automatically cut off null

No, The little button in the center of the coils is a temperature sensor. If the pan gets to hot the coils will cool down untill the stove thinks it safe to heat up again (about 30 seconds to a minute ) Its a safety feature to prevent a fire. If there is no pan on the burner it will stay hot untill you turn it off at switch.

No the just keep the port from getting to hot. It hasn’t been a problem for us. They are a safety feature.
