Hello, and thanks for reaching out. We hate to hear you have concerns over your new oven – we know that may have caused some worry, and regret any inconvenience. A small amount of smoke is not uncommon the first time a new range is used – this is caused by the heating of new parts, insulation materials, etc. Regarding a chemical taste, that could have been caused by any smoke or odor when you first used it. If the smoke and chemical taste issues haven’t yet been resolved, you might want to run the oven again, and/or follow the cleaning instructions that start on page 18 of the Use and Care manual (which can be viewed on our GE website by looking up the model number). Regarding the sound, we do expect the unit may make ‘crackling’ or ‘popping’ sounds because of the metal heating and cooling. ‘Clicking’ noises are also expected. If you are concerned that the noise you’re hearing is out of the ordinary (or the issue with a chemical taste/smoke hasn’t been resolved) and you think service may be necessary, that department is available at 1-800-432-2737. We hope this information helps. If you have any other concerns or questions, we are always happy to assist. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
