Hi Escape - Our cooktops are made of a tough glass ceramic material that is made to withstand scratches with normal use. Sometimes marks may appear on the glass ceramic that seem to be scratches, but are really just marks from a pan and are able to be removed by cleaning. The glass ceramic cooktops are scratch resistant, yet not scratch proof. Check the bottoms of the pans that you use for any rough spots or burned food pieces. The bottoms of the pans should be a "smooth" flat surface. Check out the following link- RANGE - COOKWARE USED ON A RADIANT SMOOTH GLASS COOKTOP: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16259 - We'd love to have you in the family!
