Does this stove go all the back to the wall or does it need for the counter piece in the back for it to sit on like the sides? null

The sides do not sit on the counter, there is a small gap ~ 1/8 in between the sides and counter. Still I am not sure whether back counter strip of ~2.5 in should stay or to be removed.

The back doesnt butt up tight to your back wall  there is a grill type vent which is part of the stove that creates space for the venting system   Dont cover that with a counter

Because you have a cord and a 220v outlet the unit will not be flush. You probably have a base board of some kind as well. Installing a splash board at the back will keep things a lot easier to clean. Tile is a nice option.
