Basically, yes. Cookware needs to be able to respond to a magnetic field. Cast iron and plain steel work well. Aluminum doesn’t work at all. Stainless steel is variable. If a magnet sticks to a lt, it will work. Most common stainless steel won’t. There are diffusers that can be placed between the cooktop and a pot to heat but they are not ideal. They do not work at high heat and can cause pitting of the cooktop.

We found that this model has an induction cooktop that requires ferrous cookware. We suggest using pots and pans made of magnetic stainless steel, enamel coated cast iron, enameled steel or combinations of these materials. We also recommend pots and pans with heavier bottoms for heat distribution and even cooking results.
