Hi chick - Yes! In the case of a power outage, you can light the surface burners with a match. Hold a lighted match to the burner, then turn the knob to the low position. Use extreme caution when lighting the burners this way. Consult the Owner's Manual. The oven is lit by electric ignition, eliminating the need for standing pilots. 1990 and newer gas ovens cannot be lit without power supplied to it. You might want to pair with matching GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195SKSS. Four-speed, 400-CFM venting fan system quickly removes smoke, steam and odors from the cooktop to keep kitchen air fresh and clean. Thanks for choosing GE. Keep in touch and let us know your favorite features! Sue
