Any dehumidifier will freeze up when the temperatures are below freezing, as the water will freeze in the lines. As long as you can keep the basement temperatures above freezing, you should still be able to use this unit. We find that putting our dehumidifier on cement blocks to boost it up away from the floor does the trick, as the air is a bit warmer up there.
