Hello, Thank you for your question on the GE Dryer model GTDP490EDWS. Proper airflow and ducting is important to the operation and performance of the dryer. The maximum allowable duct length and number of bends of the exhaust system depends upon the type of duct, number of turns, the type of exhaust hood (wall cap), and all conditions noted below. The maximum duct length for rigid metal duct is shown in the table below. With 4 elbows using rigid metal, the duct can be 25 feet long and 3 turns with rigid metal 35 feet. Please see the installation instruction for complete details and specifications On venting. ~ For every extra 90° elbow, reduce the allowable vent system length by 10 ft. ~ Two 45° elbows will be treated like one 90° elbow. ~ For the side exhaust installations, add one 90° elbow to the chart. ~ The total vent system length includes all the straight portions and elbows of the system (transition duct included). ~ Venting straight up through the roof is no longer acceptable. Should you have any additional questions, please let us know. Donna with GE
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have about 3 feet of flexible duct from the dryer into our basement, and then about 8 feet of rigid duct to the outside wall, and the dryer works well.
