I understand that the machine only comes with the outer shell of the coin box and that the coin mechanism (slide and coin box) must be purchased separately. However, is the switch (the wired mechanical component located in the rear of the coin box) included within the coin shell?”

Yes, the switch is included inside. I had to purchase a $7 extension for my old mechanism to trigger the lever.
