Hi Deneengrove - Thanks for considering our GE Dryer Model GFD45ESSMWW! To produce steam, the dryer must connect to the cold water supply which then heats the water to create steam. Since the washer must also connect to the cold water, a “Y” connector is inserted to allow both inlet hoses to make that connection at the same time. We suggest viewing page 4 of the Installation Guide at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16769-5.pdf - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t completely understand the question, “..... How does the ? go in there?” If you are asking about how the water goes in there, Best Buy sent out 2 men from their Geek Squad to deliver and set up my set at no extra charge. When you buy it they will offer you the opportunity to buy the parts you need for hook up. I have a steam option on both machines. The dryer is amazing. I no longer have to iron things such as curtains, sheets, bed skirts. Permanent press clothes can be steamed as well. And there is a button called “ext tumble” that will keep the items tumbling slowing w/o heat to prevent wrinkling
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dryer connects to a cold water source, usually where the washer connects using a tee fitting which allows water to supply both washer and dryer. Less than $30. This dryer and the steam function works very well, wrinkled clothes turn out smooth in about 20 minutes.
