Is a bracket required for this unit? null

It is but i dont use it currently the window kinda just holds it in place but you do run the risk of it falling out

You may have to put a board down on your window sill to prop it up if you have a vinyl window with a larger gap. Usually a 2x4 the length of the window is plenty enough to rise the AC unit.
