Oh goodness! We're truly sorry to hear that your air conditioner is producing a foul odor and definitely understand your frustration. A properly working unit by itself does not usually produce any form of odor. Smells generally come from a dirty unit or is something that is recycled from the room itself. To minimize odors: Keep the unit clean of any build-ups. If you have a window unit, make sure the unit is leveled properly so that it tilts about 1/4" back. The constant warming and cooling on these machines can build up moisture quickly. If it doesn't evaporate or drain properly, the stagnant water can lead to fungi, molds, and mildews and cause a musty odor. We do not recommend cleaning it yourself with a garden hose or pressure washer, since you are more likely to get water into electronic areas. Keep the filter cleaned; it is best to clean monthly. If this doesn't help and you are still within the return period of Best Buy, please make a warranty exchange. Otherwise, please call 866-907-1655. Reach out if you need any assistance. All the best!
