Hi Rick - Thanks for viewing GE! Model AHP14LZ is 15 1/16"H. Minimum window opening height of 15-5/8" accommodates the top mounting rail. Here's the link to the Installation Guide: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectR - For step-by-step video instructions: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=39294 - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I cant answer your question directly; however, in order to assure the unit slopes down toward the outside for proper drainage you may have to install a shim between the AC unit and the sill to assure the unit clears the storm or vinyl window frame by 1/2 inch, This shim will add to the height of the unit reducing your 15 /1/2 inch window opening by the thickness of the shim. This 1/2 inch, when added to the 15 1/6 inch product height may explain the 15 5/8 inch figure. If your window sill clears the window frame currently by 1/2 inch your 15 1/2 inch opening might be okay. For installation instructions go to: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/AHP14LZ/install and download the installation instructions. I had a similar problem regarding width, so I took the window out, added a plywood support braced by the old window frame, and a platform with hangers attached to the outside of the house. It is big, but works.
