It depends on how strong your signals are and how far your antenna is from your TV.

For the money it does a decent job under normal conditions. If you are in an area like those mentioned you might be better off investing in one of those saucer/disk type antennas because they're non directional and have built in signal boosters. Of course they aren't inexpensive. I've seen them for around $125 on sale which is less than paying for cable or satellite.
