• No, it needs about a quarter inch clearance for the door to open.

• The amount of air clearance recommended for the sides of this microwave depends on the way it is installed. If placed on the countertop, we recommend a minimum of 3" of air clearance on each side. If installed using the hanging kit which suspends the microwave from the underside of your cabinetry, provide a minimum of 2" of air clearance. If installed using an approved built-in kit, we recommend 1" of air clearance beyond the trim frame. We do not recommend it be installed directly against a wall or cabinet. -Vikki@GEAppliances
