“I have an older dishwasher that when i roll the lower rack into/out of the unit, hits a difference in height between open door and internal unit. When the wheels traverse this, it is jarring enough to rattle contents of the unit. Is the PDT785 smoother?”

We understand your concern. The design of the track from the door to the tub does have a small gap. It's a relatively smooth transition if you slide the lower rack in a slow, steady manner. We suggest taking a look at a unit in the store to observe the rack movement.
