My oven has an air-fry option which I have not used yet and probably won't because I like my portable air fryer. However, the You Tube fellow showing the same oven on a stove said he felt the air fryer was just like using the convection oven because of the fan circulation. The difference for me is that the portable air fryer requires very little time to pre-heat and cooks really fast. My new oven takes 15 minutes of electricity to pre-heat.

Convection baked foods are evenly cooked and browned, often in less time or with a lower temperature. Good results come through convection baking, even when using multiple shelves at once. Convection roasting provides the same results as using a rotisserie. Convection ovens utilize a fan that circulates hot air over, under, and around the food. In American-style convection systems, only the bake (lower) and broil (upper) heating elements are used in conjunction with the convection fan to supply the heat. No Preheat Air Fry is a special Direct Air Convection mode that is designed to produce foods with a crispier exterior than traditional oven cooking. Common foods you might use with Air Fry are chicken wings or nuggets, potato products, vegetables, appetizers, jalapeno poppers, cheese sticks, pizza bites, etcetera. The Air Fry mode uses hot, fast-moving air directed from above to surround the food you are cooking. Using this mode lets you achieve crispy, never greasy, fried food results in your oven without the mess of hot oil or the need for an extra countertop appliance. It's a delicious way to get crunch without extra calories. Let us know if you have any other questions. Take care! Mike@GEA
