I had to purchase some new pots as not all I had were magnetic. I went to Home Goods and purchased some very reasonably. I carry a small magnet with me should I see something I might want to buy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes and no, you have to use induction ready pots and pans but you might have some already! Just use a magnet and see what sticks to the bottom of your pots and pans, if it sticks it works.

Magnetic induction cooking requires the use of cookware made of ferrous metals (metals to which magnets will stick). In order to create the magnetic field and heat the cookware, the bottom of the cookware must have some iron content. The best way to determine whether a pan will work is with a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom, the cookware will work on an induction cooktop. Induction cooktops are energy efficient and they have a faster heating time than most other types of cooktops. Induction cooktop surfaces are cool to the touch, which makes them very easy to clean. Induction works by using a high-frequency coil, located just below the cooking surface, that produces a magnetic field that causes the electrons in the ferrous metal pan to vibrate, which produces heat. (Like the friction when rubbing hands together produces heat to the hands.) The pan begins to heat immediately and heats the contents in the pan. The cooking surface itself does not heat. The only reason the cooking surface area can get quite warm to the touch is because the heat from the pan will transfer to that area. The power response is virtually instantaneous. This allows very precise cooking control. (No time is lost waiting for the cooking unit to heat and no cool-down time is required after cooking. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can check to see if your existing pots and pans work with an induction range by checking to see if a magnet sticks to them. If a magnet sticks to the pot or pan, it will work with an induction range. Also check for deals with some of the induction cooktops. I know there was a deal with the GE Cafe or Monogram induction cooktop that included a free set of pots and pans with purchase.
