Is a dusty garage a problem for the vent system? null

If there is an inline filter in the washing machine venting system (question for GE help line) a dusty garage shouldn't be a problem. Keep the door to the garage closed. Helps to sweep out the garage periodically to minimize airborne dust and to prevent tracking dust into areas inside house including where washing machine located.

Hello - Yes, installation in a dusty garage would be a problem for the vent system and therefore, we do not recommend it. During the UltraFresh Vent cycle or while using 1Step Wash & Dry, the dust will be pulled into the washer. During 1 Step W/D the dust may be distributed or settle on the clothing. During the UFV cycle the dust may settle in the basket and tub, it would be washed out with next wash cycle. Depending on what generates the dust, staining of clothing or the basket, ex. grinding dust could generate rust. We hope this information helps.
