“Why is Best Buy saying you need 30 inches from the cooktop to the upper cabinet to install an Over the range microwave. Their animated demo points to the lower cabinet. Their demo is misleading. They should correct this.”

Hi Jack- Over- the- range models must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. I just remodeled my kitchen a couple of years ago. They raised my Avantium up a couple of inches from the prior height. It is now 25" above the range, in accordance to our city construction codes. I hope this helps
