Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. I'm sorry, you would not be able to slide this unit on the same mounting bracket as your old microwave. The mounting brackets have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, I install new microwave on the old hanging frame. Fits perfect. Took just several mins to screw it to the self.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After removing the old (20 years old Whirlpool) mounting bracket and installing the new one, I realized that it could have been hung on the old one. The unit mounts by a bracket on the wall at the back of the bottom of the unit, then the unit is swung up and held up by two bolts through the cabinet. One additional hole is needed to run the power cord up into the cabinet as well. It was really quite easy. It is a 2 person operation. All hardware is included; you just need a drill and a Phillips screwdriver.
