Hello Katie, I am happy to help. The refrigerator and freezer have separate controls. The freezer can only be used as a freezer. The refrigerator is separate. When checked first thing in the morning the temperature reading should be between 34-42 degrees Fahrenheit in the refrigerator section and between -5 and +8 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer.
