A:AnswerHi EricB- Thanks for viewing! While special cookware is not required, flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. The type of cookware you use on a radiant cooktop can affect how it performs. We recommend using medium or heavy-weight cookware. Porcelain Coated Cast Iron cookware is okay as long as the cookware is covered completely with porcelain enamel. Caution is recommended when using cast iron cookware that is not completely covered with smooth porcelain enamel, as it may scratch the glass ceramic cooktop. We suggest to view the following link for the proper type of cookware: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16259 - Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

A:AnswerThe heating zones have a small and a large size so you can fit the size of your pot or pan. Special pans are not needed for the cooktop but they do need to be compatible with radiant glass cooktops. Aluminum, stainless steel, copper bottom or porcelain enamel on cast iron are the recommended types.
