This Combo unit doesn't require any clearance so it can be against the wall if desired. However, consideration must be given to provide adequate clearance for installation and service. If it is inside a closet your doors need to be louvered or otherwise ventilated and have at least 60 square inches of open area. To enable 0" clearance on the back of the Combo, you must use 90-degree elbow hoses. Otherwise, you may require some additional clearance to avoid rubbing of the hoses against the back wall.
