  • QuestionIs this portable and can it be hooked up to a kitchen or bathroom sink faucet?

    Asked by Blondie.

    • Answer The UltraFast Combo is not portable, and is not designed to be put on wheels, casters, or a mobile platform. The unicouple accessory allows someone to install the appliance next to a utility sink so that they do not need a standpipe for draining or hot/cold water inlets. -- The Unicoupler (part number WH41X36697) comes with all the parts needed: cap, unicoupler, faucet attachments and allows you to hook up to a sink faucet and drain into the sink. You do not drain into a standpipe. The Unicoupler can be purchased on our GE Appliances Parts website or by calling our parts team at 1-877-959-8688 M-F 9AM-7PM EST. Lauren@GEAppliances

  • QuestionIs the 7-inch-tall pedestal the only one that works with this unit? I see a 16-inch-tall pedestal with a storage drawer listed on the same page listed as "Customers often buy these together" but I don't see it officially called out as compatible.

    Asked by RobertH.

    • Answer Just purchased this item with the 16" drawer pedestal. It fits and functions as intended. The trick is, you have to assemble some brackets to both the washer/dryer and the pedestal (very easy). But, this requires laying the washer/dryer on it's back. This unit is heavy, requires two persons to get this done. A nice feature is, you can remove the drawer (two screws) and reach into/under to complete the unit leveling process. Ours was in a tight space, this was very helpful to complete.

  • QuestionIs this safe for a smaller space like in the corner against the wall?

    Asked by Bobb.

    • Answer This Combo unit doesn't require any clearance so it can be against the wall if desired. However, consideration must be given to provide adequate clearance for installation and service. If it is inside a closet your doors need to be louvered or otherwise ventilated and have at least 60 square inches of open area. To enable 0" clearance on the back of the Combo, you must use 90-degree elbow hoses. Otherwise, you may require some additional clearance to avoid rubbing of the hoses against the back wall. • QuestionHow much space does it need behind it for hook ups?

    Asked by Igor.

    • Answer The minimum clearances to combustible surfaces are 0" for all sides and top. For improved performance, a 1/2" clearance is suggested on each side. Its also important to note that to enable 0” clearance on the back of the Combo, you must use 90° elbow hoses. Otherwise, you may require some additional clearance to avoid rubbing of the hoses against the back wall. • QuestionWe like to hang dry a lot of our clothes. Are we able to pause the dryer start in order to remove the clothes we want to hang before restarting the dryer to dry the rest of the load?

    Asked by JohnG.

    • Answer Yes, you have the option to pause the Combo during the cycle. You also have the option to select a Wash only cycle that would automatically stop the Combo from going into the Dry cycle. After you remove the clothes you would like to hang dry, then you could set the Combo to start a Dry only cycle. -Don@GEAppliances

  • QuestionHow does the heat pump operate? Is cool air exhausted?

    Asked by BillKa.

    • Answer We're happy to assist you. The heat exchanger system is enclosed inside the sealed airflow system and does not put off cold air as a byproduct. We offer several helpful videos relating to our Profile Combo on our geappliances YouTube channel. -Vikki@GEAppliances

  • QuestionHow does this product work? How is it able to wash and clean your clothing, bedding or your dirty work clothes and then dry them without changing machines?

    Asked by JustCuriousclay.

    • Answer Glad to hear you're interested! The washing function operates the same as our other front load washers but the Combo uses ventless heat pump technology which utilizes low heat and high air flow in a sealed drum to dry your clothes. Any moisture drawn from the clothing is drained away just like the water from the wash cycle. You can take a look at an article on our website titled "GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo with Ventless Heat Pump Technology Washer/Dryer" for additional information. We have a playlist on our YouTube channel specifically about the Combo if you'd like to take a look at that too. -Vikki@GEAppliances

  • QuestionCan this unit be used without a hot water heater to heat the incoming water?

    Asked by Flexspace.

    • Answer Yes, the Combo can be used with only the cold water hose connected. The Combo does not have a heater for wash, so no energy will be used to adjust the temperature of the water so they will get cold only. Only a small amount of cold water is used to “prime” the heat pump system for the drying portion of the cycle. Otherwise, no water is used for drying. -- Some things to consider: 1. You should select “tap cold” for the temperature setting for the cycle. It will use only tap cold water for all temperatures selected other than “Extra Hot”. 2. When “Extra Hot” is selected, which is the only temperature option for Sanitize with Oxi, the Combo will display an error message and not allow this cycle to run. You will be choosing to not have Extra Hot available with your actions. Similar issue with Extra Hot selection which is an option on Normal, Whites, and Power Clean. 3. You should cap the hot water port on the Combo with either a valve cap or by hooking a hose to the other faucet but not turning that faucet on to prevent any minor dripping of water out of the back of the unit. We also recommend using the Eco Cool cycle with this type of installation to slightly extend the wash time to deliver great wash performance. Lauren@GEAppliances
