Hello- Thanks for your question. We are happy to help! Our dishwashers have a an anti-jamming Piranha hard food disposer. The Piranha food disposer comes on automatically inside the dishwasher and grinds food particles before they go down the drain. This clears the passage through to the drain and eliminates the need to pre-rinse dishes. ~The motor pumps 35 gallons of water per minute past the food disposer, through the pump, and back into the tub.
