“I've had this unit 5 years and the washer broke. Had two repair guys look at it and said it was not worth repairing. The spinner rubs and I noticed when water started leaking that small ball bearings were at the base of the unit. Is this usual?”

Im not sure about usual. After only 2yrs my transmission went out and one company said they didn't work on these units. The company that did respond gave a $750 repair estimate.
