No. Set up is super simple if you have any other apple products.

Programming couldn't be easier!! All I had to do was put my iPhone on top of the Apple TV box and it did all the work. I seriously was dumbfounded, my kids might have a video somewhere of my reaction, it was comical!!

You just have to log into your iTunes account. And you have to log into any of the services you may use (netflix, hbogo etc)
