Are you trying to use the Geeni Spot plug as a regular plug and not as a smart plug? If yes, you can still use it as a regular plug without using the Geeni App and Alexa. Yes. The on/off button on the Spot is just a power button. When you plug your light or other device into the Spot you turn on the on/off switch on your device. The Spot also acts like an on/off switch controlled by voice through Alexa or Google. When you push the button on the Spot, it turns the Spot off and your device comes on and is then just a manual device. Push the button again and your device goes into the off mode and it is again controlled by voice.

No i tried that and when you do that you set it back to reset mode and you have to reprogram it all over again.
