You should vacuum off the black pre-filter once a month as it catches a lot of dust and larger particles. The hepa filter behind it should last around 6 months before you need to replace it. It may be a little more or a little less depending on the environment it's used in. I use mine 24/7 in a living room with pets. There is an indicator light to signal when the filter needs to be replaced.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought this unit about 6 weeks ago, just yesterday all I had to do was clean the prefiliter. I have it in my bedroom because I sinus issues and sleep with 4 big dogs. It works great. It runs 24/7. .
