• The inflator is powered by plugging it into a 12v socket in a vehicle. Please set the desired PSI on the inflator, when inflating tires to 65 PSI or greater, let the compressor run in 10 minute intervals; please allow the compressor to cool for 5 minutes before the next 10 minute interval.

• It does need to stay plugged into the lighter and I use it on my xterra with no issues at all. It would definitely handle the largest tires you would normally see on a vehicle. It might take a little longer to do 35s or 37s, but it's worked great for me.
