“Why does my chrome cast pause my shows hourly, ask if I'm there and then have me press "play" to resume watching? I have asked Netflix this question and they tell me that it is a feature of Chrome Cast.”

There are browser extensions to disable this behavior if you stream from a computer, but there isn't a way to turn it off that I know of. I do think it is app specific, though, so I think it is something with how the App developer (Netflix) is working with Google's Chromecast API.
