• A:Answer The Nest Doorbell (battery) can replace most wired doorbells, you can connect it to your doorbell wires and hear your existing chime when someone rings the doorbell. But this will require an 8 to 24 VAC, 10-40 VA transformer. We'd recommend that you check the compatibility first to know if a wired installation would work. The doorbell can run on battery alone, but if you prefer it wired, it can be connected to doorbell system wires delivering 8 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA, 50/60Hz, worldwide. Make sure that power is sufficient, as some doorbell systems are incompatible or can’t deliver enough power. Alternatively, you can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. Also, if you have Alexa, Google offers a Smart Home skill for integrating your Nest devices with Amazon's Alexa home control.
