• Google sends out the security updates for the device. Not Verizon. The Pixel 2 XL is unlocked and can work with any carrier. Even the Verizon variant.

• The verizon Pixel 2 Xl is unlocked, and doesnt have anything different on it than if you bought it from Google. Updates will be from google as always with any nexus or google device.

• I don't have VZW but using the phone with a different carrier and I received all the software update via WiFi.
