- Answer You can set it up to change temp at bed time to save you plenty. With a few sensors, you can set it up to turn off when doors or Windows are open. If you turn it so the eco leaf shows on the display, you can save much more. There really isn't a dollar amount that is set, but it can pay for itself very quickly in terms of time saved and money.

- Answer Push down on the outer ring twice, then turn to the air conditioning (cool) setting. Push outer ring again, turn to cool, then push one last time to exit.

- Answer i'm sure they could if there are no wiring or power supply issues from your furnace. But just as easily, anyone can install it if they are able to use the provided screwdriver to remove and insert 4 screws. If there are unusual issues causing the wires from your furnace not working right (as I encountered) Geek Squad won't be able to do it -- you will need to call a HVAC (Heating/Air Conditioning) specialist, or some plumbers may be able to handle it. Try it first yourself before spending money on Geek Squad or another source. You may be surprised by how easy it is.

- Answer You do not have to buy a home security system to use the Nest. It hooks into the wires of your currently existing thermostat system, assuming it is compatible. For compatibility questions, the Nest website is excellent at helping you figure out if your configuration is compatible

- Answer Yes battery is rechargeable with USB cable. Tr take a picture of your existing wiring and do the same to the new thermostat!

QuestionWe would like to use the Next system in our vacation home. Will we be able to turn off both the "learning/automatic" scheduling as well as a set manual scheduling? We would prefer to have no scheduling at all.

- Answer Yes, however you can't do it in the settings. Google it and you'll find a youtube video from someone explaining exactly the steps needed to turn off learning permanently. Basically it is starting over and clearing the history so it won't learn.

- Answer Absolutely! This can be disabled under Settings > Display on the Nest Learning Thermostat itself by changing the selection from "Wake on approach" to "Wake on press."

- Answer To determine compatibility, we'd suggest using our compatibility checker found here: https://nest.com/support/article/How-to-tell-if-your-heating-and-cooling-system-will-work-with-the-Nest-Thermostat If the Nest will work with your current wiring, then you would be able to connect the Nest to your Wi-Fi, and control it from anywhere through the app as long as you have access to Wi-Fi or Data.

- Answer I do not believe you can. I use Nest thermostats for the hot water heating system and Honeywell smart thermostats for the Central Air. This isn't because of a defect in the nest, it is that each requires a dedicated thermostat. You could add two nest thermostats and name each one for the system it controls to enable simple control from your smart phone.

- Answer Yes, I use the Nest with my Dot regularly. Like a lot of things with the Dot you just have to make sure you properly word the command.

- Answer From what I've read there is no compatibility with Nest and Apple Home Kit. I don't think there is any plan for that, either. It's unfortunate, but if it's true from what I've been reading it's a territorial battle that leaves two companies/products that don't "play with each other." I could be wrong, but that's the short answer to your question.
