There is a wall cover for the plug that screws into the electrical box. But the cable to the detect can be removed. Note when this happens the battery kicks in. If and when monitoring by a third party is added, it will notify the monitoring station as well as the app. That's why they added the battery backup :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest Guard has a built in 12 hour backup battery. If the Nest Guard is unplugged from the outlet, the backup battery will immediately take over and continue to alarm you of an intruder. We'll also be offering cellular backup as an option in case WiFi is lost so you'll still get the alerts to your phone. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has a battery backup so even if someone were to unplug it, the unit could continue to function/sound the alarm. Most home invasions/burglaries involve a "smash and grab" technique, in which the criminal will smash the alarm keypad/siren, and proceed with his business. The unfortunate thing about this system is that the alarm doesn't sound for a minimum of 30 seconds after entry is made while in home mode, so a signal is never sent to the monitoring service until it is probably too late.
