Customers appreciate the Nest Secure Alarm System with Nest Cam Outdoor for its ease of use and high-quality camera. Many found setup to be quick and straightforward, resulting in a positive user experience. However, some users experienced challenges with the motion detection sensitivity and connectivity, particularly concerning false alarms and Wi-Fi connection difficulties. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and camera quality outweighs the reported issues with motion detection and connectivity.

Great system, nearly perfect

I am not sure what's going on with people given "one star" on this product. Before you purchase the item, didn't you do some homework?
Before I bought it, I also considered Ring, ismart and Samsung ADT, I know Nest can only be place on a flat surface, not on the wall, because there is a sensor to detect people on the main guard device. The main device is not huge, but will be too fat if you put that on the wall, unlike nest thermostat or ecobee or other security panel, the built in speaker is great. And all the nest detect works great. If there is something I don't like, that will be the detect is a bit too pricey, typically for the sensor, it is $20-35, and I dont really need all sensor to have "quiet exit" function. Also the camera subscription is expensive, while Ring offer $10/month flat fee for all the ring cameras installed, Logitech charge $3.99/month for each camera and Amazon icloud camera charge $9.99/ month for up to 5 camera, Nest charge $10/ month for each camera! That is really expensive. Other than these two things, installation is easy, and system runs well ! And it looks modern and great.

Easy Setup - Fatal Flaws

The Nest Outdoors are a beautiful designed piece of hardware. They're very easy to set up and the camera quality is good (although you need higher resolution than ANY camera offers on night vision to really identify perpetrators from videos.)
But the camera has several fatal flaws that would make me never buy one again. The first is the lack of secure mounting. I have had THREE of these stolen because it's simply too easy to steal. (Even if you can brick if by calling Nest, you're still out your investment).
The next flaw is the lack of a battery backup. These means when you're most vulnerable during a power outage (or power cut by a thief), you don't have the video you need.
Another frustration is the monthly support. I'm not going to quite call that a flaw because I understand they sell a nice piece of hardware for the price they do based on the recurring revenue. And I wouldn't mind paying that for the right interface...
IF it wasn't for THE most frustrating flaw -- the interface with the video storage: unlike a DVR you have on premise, it's missing extremely important features for accessing stored clips. First, you only get 30 days of clips max. That's not enough when you need to look back at some important event you didn't catch at the time. And then when you do identify the period you want, it's a frustrating click and drag to set the range you want; I want to simply TYPE in "3/28/2019 12:01 for 2 minutes" but you end up creating a clip with a minute of unimportant because you can't dial it in exactly. The cops HARDLY have the time to look at this to start with, so you can't waste their time with a minute of dead video before the suspect appears. And because it's missing a fast forward review feature, you can't scan quickly through the video to identify when your crime took place.
Do yourself a favor and buy something with unlimited free storage on site and an interface that's been designed practically to deal with security monitoring.

Thought about getting this system a while back, and wish I had earlier. So easy to install and set up (with existing Next system) and easy to use and monitor activity. Bough another Nest detect sensor, to cover all areas and entrances of our home.
Love the simple design, but many features and capabilities of each device and overall system.
Grabbed this bundle with the extra camera (to add to our previous outdoor cameras purchased) since the value was great. Just added another one for the garage, which I always wanted to have setup in there.
Satisfied with the system and family feels much safer and secure, with it installed.

Have Nest cameras, so wanted to keep things within the Nest ecosystem. Easy to install, with elegant design seemingly following Apple's lead. The illuminated window/door sensors that allow for exit without tripping the alarm is a nice touch.

This thing is awesome. I can't recommend it enough! It's easy to set up, easy to install, and easy to use. I really like that it has a built-in battery in the case that power goes out. Even better is the added bonus of having Brinks Security added (not mandatory) in the case that you really want your home seriously secured. PRO TIP: give yourself more than 10 seconds to turn the alarm off when you get in the door, especially if you don't use the fobs. 30 seconds is pretty solid.

Sleek, easy to set up, quality parts, but I still haven’t been able to add my family to the Nest app. It requires doing it through the Google Home app, which as far as I can tell just catalogs the Google products you own. If you’re already familiar with or integrated into the Google family of products, it’s a no-brainer. If not, it’s a bit of a learning curve.

After purchasing, I had some initial problems with updating the system. Google's tech service was able to resolve the issue, and now the product is working as promised. The outdoor camera is clear as day. The overall quality is very good and doesn't clutter up the area. I also like the Nest tags as it keeps track of the assigned users when they enter and leave.

I purchased the Nest secure to replace my iSmartAlarm that I've been using for two years now. Features I would like to see on the Nest that is not found on the Nest: panic feature in the app (when triggered would immediately set the alarm and notify users), audible chime when a door opens in the house, ability to set the volume of the voice feedback (feel the audio should be a little louder, especially when you enter the house and ask to enter in the passcode).
Overall I was extremely pleased with the setup. The step by step instructions was intuitive and simple just like my other Nest products such as the Nest Cams and thermostat. The reason for purchasing the device was so I can get a seamless integration all in one app. One thing I do not like is arming or disarming the nest secure is not available when I open the app. I have to scroll down to my entryway, click on the Nest guard button, then I am able to arm/disarm etc. It makes it very inconvenient especially when I would like to arm it after forgetting to do so when I am driving to work.
One really nice feature is that it comes with a mount to lock the power plug into the wall outlet, this prevents intruders from easily unplugging the Nest and disabling/stealing the system. This was a major problem with the iSmartAlarm, when the alarm goes off you can unplug the device and disable the siren. One comment, if you would like to plug in a Google Home mini on the same outlet as the Nest Secure....good luck, the locking mount is so bulky that you can only plug in the Nest secure. Real bummer because I like to ask Google to turn on the lights when I come Home.
Lastly, at the moment there is no smart home integration. I would like to see smart lights turn on when I disarm the device or when a door was opened. iSmartAlarm had this available with IFTT, but I am assume you all can do better with Google Home integration.

So far, we've been using the Nest Security system and it has really put our minds at ease. The camera will push notifications when it sees movement, so even cars trigger emails, but it's nice that the camera is always recording.
Nest Secure is crazy easy to use and setup. We have animals, so the motion detection has to be completely turned off. Nest has a setting for pets, but even with that setting the cats are still triggering the false alarms.
It is a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion compared to some of the other options on the market. Plus the fact it integrates with our other Nest / Google products is a huge win in our book.

If you are looking for an alarm system that meets you where your needs are, this is a great fit.
A few things right off the bat:
- The base unit is smaller than you think
- The sensors (while more expensive than competitors) are not only door open/close but also motion sensors and can be wall mounted
- The key fobs are very convenient for activating and deactivating
- The bundled camera is a great value if you already have Nest as your camera system for home
Installation is very easy and simple and the integration with the overall Nest set up is simple and easy.
The configuration options (time to turn off the alarm, time to leave the house when activating, motion sensing...etc.) are excellent. When using location tracking with the app, the alarm system will notify you if you left home but did not turn on the alarm. The motion setting options do have an option if you have pets as well.
You do not have to connect to a service provider with this system which is a nice option. If you do want to sign up, you can go month to month or sign an annual subscription (I think its a 36 month agreement but you get a discount).
You can add additional sensors and cameras and key fobs. It's very modular.
I purchased this when it was on sale for $349 US (the non camera was $249) and have been very pleased with it.

I already use Google & Nest products throughout my house (home minis, protects, thermostats), so adding the alarm system & camera was fairly easy. It's also convenient to have everything in one app (soon to be even more combined with the Nest/Google merger, though hopefully that isn't too drastic of a change since the Nest App is pretty good). Camera is good quality and setup/install was fairly simple (especially since I could use other products to help the process of getting wifi running to them and already had a nest account to just add devices to).

Set up was easy. I agree with other reviews that there should be more options for the homeowner. 30 seconds a a long time for the alarm to sound. I would also like to see a glass break sensor and the option of turning on motion for different sensors when you are home. If you are going to bed and would like to turn on the motion sensors in the basement, then it would be nice to have that option. Right now, the motion is only available when you are away and the motion is not available on the windows at all, so maybe a less expensive sensor for windows would be a nice option too. Overall, we own may nest products and are happy with how they work together.

We love our nest cam and nest home security system. Install was super easy! And it operates as expected 99.9% of the time. We have had a few issues, such as the camera going offline from time to time. But I think that has been more an issue with our wi-fi than the camera itself. We also had an issue with one of the Nest Detects malfunctioning, as it said the battery was dead. We replaced the battery and the same thing happened the following day. We returned it without issue, and haven't had trouble since.
We've called customer support a couple of times, first when we were setting it up and trying to get our Nest Aware 30-day trial period started, and then when the Nest Detect malfunctioned. CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS AWESOME! You talk to real people, who are really helpful, and actually care about resolving your issue and making sure you're happy.
The camera is clear and crisp. Despite the issues people have with it picking up wind and leaves, etc. I don't mind that. I'd rather get a few false alarm notifications on my phone, than have something bad happen to my home. The notifications are also super easy to check on your phone. I just swipe to view in my home screen on my iPhone, and if I don't see a person, I know it's a false alarm.
If you're looking for something to make your home feel safe and secure, this is definitely it!
