If there wasn't a delay, the screeching alarm would go 9ff every time you open the door when system is armed. It give you time to get in the house and turn off the alarm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The latest software allows you to reduce the delay to 15 seconds (which I use) or you can turn off the delay completely, so the alarm will sound immediately if there is motion or a door is opened.

Of course you need a delay coming in, but when you are inside the house (eg: sleeping) there should be another setting you can set that will trigger immediately if someone breaks in....not after 30 sec which gives the bad guys plenty of time to potentially cause harm. All other alarm systems I have owned have this "overnight" setting.
