In order to ensure that your Nest Secure system remains connected to WiFi 24/7 to send you alerts, you’d need a router in the home with WiFi capabilities. There will also be an optional cellular backup service you can purchase for $5 a month in case WiFi is lost. More details here: https://nest.com/support/article/Learn-more-about-cellular-backup-for-Nest-Secure Additionally, 24/7 professional monitoring by MONI, which will include cellular backup, will be available later this year as a subscription service. Starting at $24.99 a month with a three-year agreement or $34.99 a month with no long-term agreement. You can sign up to be the first to know when professional monitoring is available and get the latest pricing info at mymoni.com/nest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Im assuming that your cell phone would be fine as long as you’re home, but if you wanted the alarm to work when you leave, you’d need something on all the time for 24/7 monitoring.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nest Secure system does require a WiFi connection. So it would need to be connected to your homes WiFi. If you were to set this up using a hotspot on your phone, the device would only be connected while that device is at the home. With that said, we'll be offering cellular backup as an option in case WiFi goes down. Details here: https://nest.com/support/article/Learn-more-about-cellular-backup-for-Nest-Secure
