• There is no hub required for this unit to fully function. It can be added to Google Home/Amazon Alexa if you wish to use voice commands.

• No. The Nest thermostats connect directly to your WiFi router and can be controlled through WiFi from your smart phone, tablet, or computer as long as it has WiFi connectivity. The thermostat will still function without WiFi if it goes down.
