• No it's the first gen of there newest unit. It has a less fancy display but does everything the original 3rd gen does.

• No, this is a new product that came out after 3rd Generation. The 3rd Generation thermostat is $250 where as this Thermostat 'E' is $169. This has support for lesser number for HVAC and has cheaper materials to lower its cost.

• Yes it is. I got one now that they finally had an affordable option. I see no difference in features or usability from the $250 model. Just the softened display which is better in my opinion.
