Generally speaking, Nest thermostats are compatible with zoned system panels. But some zone relay panels don't provide a Nest thermostat with enough power to charge its internal battery. In this case, a Nest thermostat needs a common (C) wire to provide power. You can try our Compatibility Checker to to have an idea if your system is compatible with Nest Thermostat E here: https://store.google.com/us/widget/compatibility/thermostat We also recommend reaching out to a local Nest Pro for further inspection here: https://www.ontechsmartservices.com/pages/nest/
