• No. Nest Thermostat E can work on its own. But, having a Google Nest Hub or any other compatible smart speaker and display enables you to control your Nest thermostat using voice command.

• No, the Nest-E connects directly to your router. The remote sensor connects to the thermostat via bluetooth.
