Yes. Nest Wifi is a router that broadcasts Wi-Fi to any Wi-Fi capable device. It requires to be connected directly to a modem using an Ethernet cable to set it up and get an internet connection from your preferred internet service provider (ISP) that you'll have a monthly internet plan. Take a look at this link for the setup requirements and guide on how to setup Nest Wifi: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548301
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have WiFi in your room from YOUR ISP's modem, there is already a coax cable that is screwed into the modem. The modem then either has an internal or external WiFi router (and in either case, there will be an RJ45 plug (female) on the back of the modem). Assuming you have the modem and can get to the back of it, you should be able to locate the coax cable, the power cable, and what resembles an oversized "phone jack" -- this is called an RJ45 connection. If you buy the NEST, it comes with an RJ45 cable (male to male). "All you have to do" is plug one end of the cable into the modem and one end into the NEST (the "master" NEST). The NEST master "blasts" a WiFi signal to the other NEST units (these units do NOT have the RJ45C plug inputs), these satellite units only have a power cable to connect to them. One by one you set up the master NEST and the satellite NEST units and then once they are set up and initialized (the process takes a few minutes) your "space" is blanketed by WiFi. The NEST units do not boost the MBPS -- if they receive 100 to 1000 MBPS they will essentially blast out what the master unit receives from the ISP's modem via the RJ45C -- there may be a slight drop off for WiFi vs hardwired, but the drop off will not kill your speed. The setup is quick and relatively easy if you follow the directions and don't try to rush. There is also a number to call and you can talk to someone who will hold your hand through the process. My speed has been super fast and other than when Spectrum (my ISP) has an outage, the thing works great. Hope this helps.
